There is a natural leader of the club that is being denied a chance to deliver this club back to the promised land of a respectable and operationally sound rugby league club. We don’t have to win every year but we demand competence and the best people available in key roles that are subject to performance review and are removed from post if they don’t meet the targets. The foundation heartland regions of Campbelltown, Lidcombe and Leichhardt were hard, honest working class suburbs but the people could sniff out imposters quickly. Your haphazard management of the beautiful Magpies and Tigers foundational brands is both unprofessional and bad business. Rugby league is a sport where heritage is your biggest asset to keeping the game alive intergenerationally. We have lost that narrative to this awkward hybrid that needs nuance and sophistication to manage. Instead you behave like 2000 is ground zero. You’re sitting on 230 years of heritage which you appear to consider an inconvenience, not an asset. We gave you the benefit of the doubt and you haven’t delivered.
